A wind tunnel experiment was conducted on the heat sink of the Silicon Graphics Origin 2000 - MIPS R10000 Chip at Silicon Graphics. Infrared camera was used to take the thermal picture shown below on the left. To verify the quality of the flow solver, the flow was computed using the geometry configuration of the wind tunnel. The resulting temperature field is shown below on the right. A color map is chosen to closely match the infrared picture. The maximum measured and computed temperature are, respectively, 65C and 66C. These results show an excellent correlation between experiment and computation.
