Publication Date: 01 Sep 2005

September 1, 2005, Mountain View, CA: ACUSIM Software, Inc. today announced that version 1.7 of its flagship computational fluid dynamics solver is now available. Release v1.7 adds increased functionality while still delivering to customers the robustness, speed and accuracy that is the hallmark of the AcuSolve software. Significant new v1.7 functionality (over v1.6) includes

  • Incorporates new turbulence model, DDES. (Delayed Dettached Eddy Simulation) based on the work of Spalart
  • The CHACO (Sandia National Labs) decomposition option to support parallel decomposition and execution of up to 200,000,000 elements
  • A new option to directly couple commercial stuctural solvers with AcuSolve, called DC-FSI, which will allow the simulation of large deformation, non-linear fluid structural problems without the need for additional third party software for the stuctural code to communicate with AcuSolve. Third party structural solver vendors should contact ACUSIM for further information
  • Isentropic and Ideal Gas Law formulations for density allowing weakly and fully compressible flows to be simulated.
  • Aero acoustics output to enable coupling of AcuSolve to third party acoustic propogation codes
  • Extended functionality of EnsightTM (from CEI) direct reader

"AcuSolve v1.7 continues to improve on its predecessor, v1.6.," said Farzin Shakib, President of ACUSIM Software Inc. "We have increased the simulation capability of the software by adding a direct coupled Fluid Structure interaction option (DC-FSI) to the code to go along with our industry leading P-FSI or Practical Fluid Structure Interaction. The software is available for immediate release. Please contact your distributor or ACUSIM software.
